Halloween Invites

I haven't been doing much sewing since I've been back. In fact, last week I spent much of it doing some new Pingg designs. My collection for them has been a bit neglected over the summer but as we get towards the busiest time of year (invite sending wise) I wanted to get some more designs ready, starting with some Halloween ones...

Not sure what it is since I've come back from my holidays but I'm not feeling the joy for the sewing parts of my work as much as I sometimes do. Instead I've loved doing these designs which are entirely done on the computer. I think partly it's just because I've had loads of ideas for them. You know sometimes inspiration is nowhere to be found and then other times you have ideas brimming over and you can't wait to get them all down on paper so to speak... well this was one of those times.

They are obviously a little different to my usual style, although they seem to have come just as naturally. Maybe it is the use of silhouette and the subject matter (I'm not often to be found stitching skeletons and witches) that makes it feel so different. If you had seen these designs out of the blue, I wonder whether you would have realised they were mine?? I doubt it somehow! But then that is maybe a good thing. Things can sometimes get a little samey and to be honest it's been nice to work with ideas other than cupcakes and flowers!

There are still some more ideas that I would like to do, but other work is calling me and I can't put it off any longer. Plus we do still have quite a bit of time before Halloween but it is good to have the designs ready for when people start planning their parties and events. You can see the rest of my collection here if you are interested...

Anyway it has also made me start thinking (albeit reluctantly) about Autumn, and Halloween itself. I kind of wish we British made more of a thing about Halloween like the Americans do. I started a Halloween pinterest board at the weekend and some of the images and ideas are great! For instance I would love to make some of these cute little jam jar lanterns but fear they would just sit looking forlorn and a bit lost in our house with no other Halloween decorations.

I need a house like this for them to look at home!

How fun would it be to decorate your porch like this?? Amazing.

Anyway, let's not wish the months away, we still have nearly two whole ones before Halloween so I shall try and enjoy September first! Hope you're having a good week, thanks for popping into see me as always, I'm off to sew some butterfly badges! xxx

I love your Halloween invites, we go trick or treating, and in the area we go to nearly every house has some form of decoration, some really go to town, we have an absolutely fantastic time with an amazing haul, we all get dressed up as well....

Love your images Jenny!! The bunting is fab and I think all the pumpkins are great (I love pumpkins)!
I think Halloween is becoming more popular, children here go trick or treating, we always have a basket of sweets for them and we always have Halloween pudding which is made from apples.
I love thoses little jars. :)

Hi Jenny, I see what you mean about brimming over with ideas, your designs are great but I totally understand what you mean, sometimes it is better to 'walk away' from something to get the creative juices flowing again isn't it? Mental note made about Mama Mia

Your Halloween designs are stunning, Jenny. You have so much talent in so many areas, it's good to explore whatever you feel like doing and go with the creative flow. I often used to create something for myself and for fun, and then find it led me to new work ventures too. It helps keep the creativity fresh doing something your heart is in as well as commissions which count as work!! Enjoy your week and your crafty times.

Hello, I love your halloween invites! Never heard of Pingg though so off to have a proper look.

We LOVE halloween in our house and since my oldest daughter has been old enough (for the last three years or so!) we've had a party and decorated the house. I've also got a board on pinterest in readiness for my halloween party this year!

Hope you find you sewing "mojo" soon!

hey lovely - both back in the swing of work (I shut my NOTHS shop for almost 5 weeks - and din't miss it one bit!). Nice to have you over at mine earlier - all boys have had great day and although I felt sad as they left I found myself skipping round the house enjoying my re-found freedom!
My, 3 o'clock comes around fast though!

You are such a pro - I know I should be thinking about Christmas etc but get so distracted. Set out today to think about halloween and ended up making new home blocks!

Oh well, enjoyed myself!

The invitations are really good, they make me want to go out and organise a party!

We all lose our inspiration at time, I feel like quitting my job since coming off the sick. I used to to love it but its become a real chore. I am sure its a phase, I shall persevere xx

Since reading American blogs & seeing the way they decorate their homes for autumn makes me want to do the same!

These designs are great, im liking the bunting trick or treat, I think its my favoutrite. That porch is just great, Americans do this so well all the time. We all get a little despondent about our "work/craft", and I think it does you good to go outside of your comfort zone, you have enjoyed this and it seems like its been a welcome break from your normal style xxx :)

Great designs, really classic and fun. You could maybe make trick or treat bags with the same designs appliqued on (when you get your sewing mojo back!

Love these designs!...I've had a good look at the ones on Pingg too - my favourite is the glowing pumpkin, its so simple and so nicely done. Its funny that you've been getting really stuck into graphics at the moment as I've been having a bit of a fabric sort this week - I'm daydreaming about finding time somehow to make a quilt for my daughter's bed!...maybe we've both been in need of a change to recharge! ;-) x

Hello Jenny! I love your designs, really eye catching and contemporary. We don't really trim up for Halloween either, but I love seeing pictures of the homes that do.

Sending love,
